InnBucks MicroBank Limited is a fast-growing financial services provider based in Zimbabwe, regulated by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe as a deposit-taking microfinance institution. Founded in 2022 as a subsidiary of Simbisa Brands Limited, a Quick Service Restaurant public company, InnBucks began as a digital wallet solution for a restaurant chain, quickly disrupting the cash exchange market.
Over the past two years, the company has expanded its offerings to include personal and business banking, cross-border remittances, lending, and digital payment services.
With a user base of approximately 3 million and more than 500 outlets across Zimbabwe, InnBucks is committed to expanding access to modern financial services and promoting financial inclusion both in Zimbabwe and across the African continent.
The challenge
Modernising infrastructure to meet growing demand
As InnBucks transformed from a digital wallet to a fully integrated digital bank, the need for a scalable, flexible, and secure banking platform became clear. To support their growing customer base and efficiently introduce new products and services, modernising their infrastructure was essential.
With a vision to become the leading digital-first financial services platform across Africa, InnBucks sought a composable cloud-native solution that would provide the flexibility and innovation required to drive their future growth.
The solution
Digital transformation in the cloud
In early 2025, InnBucks partnered with Mambu, leveraging its cloud-native banking platform to underpin their digital transformation. Mambu’s composable architecture offered the scalability and flexibility necessary for rapid innovation and expansion they were looking for.
The shift to Mambu will enable the bank to further enhance its customer experience while optimising operational efficiency. The new digital bank will be underpinned by Amazon Web Services (AWS), providing the cloud infrastructure for the transformation.
