Bringing back the human touch to SME banking
SMEs, the backbone of the UK economy, have long been underserved by rigid, impersonal banking solutions. Recognise Bank set out to change this by creating a truly customer-friendly SME bank. As demand for loans and credit lines surged post-pandemic, the bank needed a state-of-the-art, cloud-native platform to deliver fast, flexible, and personalised financial services.


The solution
Building a future-ready SME banking platform
Recognise Bank partnered with Mambu to create a digitally-enabled platform tailored for SMEs. Mambu’s cloud-native, composable architecture and Process Orchestrator (MPO) allowed seamless integrations with key partners like ClearBank for real-time payments, nCino for streamlined lending, and Microsoft Dynamics for accounting and reporting. This modern setup eliminated tech debt, enabling Recognise Bank to innovate and scale quickly, delivering flexible, personalised solutions to its customers.
The result
Cloud-enabled, customer-centric growth
Recognise Bank has become one of the first SME-focused banks to launch since the COVID-19 pandemic, and with Mambu, it is set to transform SME banking in the UK.
In its first year, Recognise Bank generated £1 billion in lending inquiries and issued £100 million in commercial loans. The bank has expanded its offerings with business savings accounts and plans to introduce asset finance solutions, aiming to serve 54,000 depositors and 5,100 borrowers within five years.
