Fifteen years ago, Mambu started with the belief that banking technology shouldn’t slow ambition down - it should unlock it. Since day one, our role hasn’t been just to provide a platform, but to help financial institutions move faster, think bigger, and reimagine what’s possible.
To mark our 15th anniversary, we’re looking back at five standout “Hero Chapters” from our global community. These aren’t just implementation stories, these are the teams who challenged the status quo, took bold risks, and reshaped financial services in their markets.
Western Union already served customers across 200+ countries with cross-border money movement, payments and digital financial services, but faced limits from legacy systems as it looked to deepen digital engagement and expand retail banking services in Europe. They needed a platform that could launch fast, support multi-currency products and handle modern payments flows without slowing teams down.
By partnering with Mambu, Western Union launched a greenfield digital banking offering across Germany, Italy, Romania and Poland in just seven months. Today, Mambu supports every layer of the user-facing functionality behind their app, from multi-currency wallets to local IBANs.
This evolution has grown into a continuous partnership, expanding to include Mambu Payments, delivering rapid impact. Just six months after project kick-off, Mambu began processing all major European and international payment rails, from real-time SEPA to SWIFT, alongside Verification of Payee. By November 2025, Western Union fully decommissioned its legacy payments systems, simplifying operations and giving teams a modern, scalable payments foundation to support future growth.

As part of one of Europe’s largest banks, ABN AMRO began looking for ways to position itself for the future after seeing SME lending being rapidly overtaken by faster, more nimble fintechs. Traditional processes and legacy systems were slowing innovation, and market share was at risk.
New10 was set-up to compete from day one as an independent business. Using Mambu’s cloud-native core, New10 went from concept to market in 10 months, providing its customers with a seamless user experience, fast onboarding, and a transparent 15-minute credit decision. It’s a modern digital business lending proposition that combines fintech speed with the trust and security of an established bank, rewriting the story of how big banks innovate.

As a cooperative fintech serving 37 credit unions across Atlantic Canada, League Data faced a critical turning point when its legacy, mainframe-based core software reached its end-of-life. This aging infrastructure threatened to hold local institutions back from offering the modern digital services members now expect.
In a bold, future-oriented move, League Data migrated to Mambu’s cloud-native platform underpinned by Amazon Web Services (AWS). The transition was designed for speed and stability: League Data developed a protocol to complete the actual cutover to the new core in less than 48 hours with zero service disruption. By integrating an ecosystem of over 20 partners, they didn’t just replace a system, they empowered community credit unions to compete at scale while preserving their mission of local, member-owned banking.

As a leader in Islamic banking, Bank Muamalat recognised that its legacy core infrastructure could no longer support its ambitious growth plans. They needed to reach a tech-savvy, digitally native audience, but required a solution that could handle the complexity and integrity of Shari’ah-compliant finance without compromise.
The launch of ATLAS proved that tradition and technology don’t have to be at odds. Moving from concept to soft launch in just nine months after partnering with Mambu, Bank Muamalat created Malaysia’s first fully Shari'ah-compliant digital bank. Built on a cloud-native core, ATLAS delivers a seamless, faith-centric experience while upholding the principles of Islamic finance. The modern platform lets Bank Muamalat accelerate product development, improve member experience, and compete in a fast-moving digital market while staying true to its values.

Ualá began with a bold mission: improve financial inclusion across Latin America. However, with millions of young, tech-savvy users entering the market, they needed a core platform that could scale fast to support rapid growth.
Today, Ualá is one of the region’s leading neobanks, serving over 8 million customers across LATAM. Mambu was implemented in just two months, and within 15 months, Ualá went live in Argentina. Their journey from startup to regional powerhouse is the ultimate scaling story and a reminder that with the right foundation, your technology can always move as fast as your ambition.
