As the financial services sector continues to rapidly evolve, 2024 marked a pivotal chapter in the Mambu journey with the introduction of more than 100 exciting and highly anticipated features and enhancements. As we look at the year ahead, our focus continues to be on driving innovation to deliver an agile, scalable and flexible solution to help our customers grow.
In this blog, we explore some of the significant strides we made in our core banking platform across deposits, lending, cards and payments, while also offering a glimpse into our ambitious roadmap for 2025.
Last year, we made remarkable progress in deposits, lending cards, and payments while also enhancing our underlying core services.
For deposits, we made deposit interest rate adjustments smoother in order to help our customers avoid inconsistencies and give them more control and flexibility.
In addition, for our larger customers with high account volumes, we also extended the powerful interest accrual breakdown capability providing greater transparency in helping them meet regulatory reporting requirements in many regions.
In the lending space, we introduced semiannual compounding frequency, variable penalty rates and made prepayment calculations more flexible, allowing for more customised loan products.
We also streamlined fee management, enabling fees to be applied to specific instalments giving our lending customers even more control in managing loan products.
Furthermore, our mortgage product was supercharged to fit with the needs of today's lenders and borrowers. Customers can now effortlessly configure interest-only equal instalment mortgages and offer payment holidays - without extending the loan term. This provides more flexibility for lenders to tailor mortgage solutions to their customers.
Additional features such as configurable fees for early loan repayments and enhanced arrears management with decoupled arrears balances for improved accounting accuracy, were also introduced to offer unparalleled flexibility.
Our card offerings have seen notable improvements as well. The new integration with Paymentology has significantly enhanced transaction handling, allowing for processing speeds of up to 500 transactions per second. This improvement not only increases efficiency but also helps financial institutions serve their customers faster and more effectively.
We’ve also made our platform more extensible. The launch of event-driven Functions which integrates with our Streaming API enables customers to tap into any event happening in the core banking system and build custom flows that truly fit their unique needs.
Now, you can fully automate tasks such as rolling over term deposits upon maturity, calculating withdrawal fees in real-time, intelligently moving money between accounts based on predefined thresholds, and more.
2025: what’s next?
While 2024 certainly kept us busy, for 2025, our goal is to continue this momentum across both financial services and platform and core solutions offerings.
The future of banking is evolving rapidly, and at Mambu, we're dedicated to providing the tools and technology needed to stay ahead of the curve. With an exciting roadmap ahead, here’s an overview of what’s in the pipeline for 2025.
Financial services
Our goal is to enhance interest rate management for greater flexibility and customisation, strengthening retail banking capabilities to support scalability, and improving reporting with advanced data extraction methods.
Planned updates include, independence of overdraft configuration, improved system performance, scalable interest accrual breakdown and balance handling.

In 2025, we will further enhance the configurability, flexibility, and precision of our fee and penalty calculations. Notable improvements will include better payment and credit management through the introduction of credit balances on revolving loans, the ability to adjust due dates mid-loan, and consistent instalment amounts even during extended initial periods.
Additionally, we will implement flexible repayment floor management for our Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) product. Enhancements will also focus on more accurate fee calculations for equal payments and penalty management, as well as increased flexibility in loan structuring by supporting balloon payments for trade-ins on BNPL and purpose loans, along with flexible advance payments without interest recalculation.
Our focus for mortgages is to enhance the configurability of our products, enabling a wider range of configurations to meet diverse lender requirements without the need for extensive custom development.
Planned features include improved handling of overpayments, the introduction of negative spreads on adjustable-rate accounts, seamless transfers of loan balances to new loans, streamlined redraw processes that do not disrupt repayment schedules, and more accurate daily interest accrual calculations for leap years.
We will continue to enhance our Islamic banking offerings with exciting new capabilities to support the calculation, distribution, approval and application of deposit accounts. These improvements will help our customers build and launch Shari’ah-compliant financial solutions.
In 2024, we acquired the cutting-edge payment provider Numeral, enhancing our cloud banking platform with an advanced payments hub and universal gateway.
Mambu customers now have immediate access to a network of over 10 payment schemes and 30 clearing banks, enabling instant, reliable, compliant, and risk-free payments.
Platform and core services
We’re also excited to be making ongoing enhancements to the platform to improve our customers' overall experience. Key features we are exploring include:
  • Performance and scalability enhancements to deliver non-disruptive auto-scaling, higher availability, improved performance, optimal and fair API usage for all.
  • Expanding our data services product suite to meet our customers' growing data needs. This includes enhancements to our data extraction capabilities, improved audit trails, and scalable data management solutions designed to optimise retention strategies.
  • Enhancing our data model by adding additional metadata points to simplify data segmentation, searchability, and extraction. This improvement will ensure that our platform can efficiently handle increased data volumes with minimal impact on performance.
  • Introducing new notification services featuring enhanced templates that allow our customers to customise core events to better meet their needs.

As financial institutions continue to digitise and modernise their offerings, we remain committed to empowering our customers with our cloud banking platform helping them build and scale innovative financial products better and faster than ever before.
