About the customer

PT Krom Bank Indonesia Tbk ("Krom") is a digital-first bank headquartered in Jakarta and regulated by OJK and Bank Indonesia. Formerly known as PT Bank Bisnis Internasional Tbk, the bank began its transformation in 2021 following its acquisition by PT FinAccel Teknologi Indonesia, part of the Kredivo Group, Indonesia’s largest and fastest-growing BNPL company.

The year 2024 marks a period of momentum for Krom expanding and accelerating business growth amidst the dynamics of the digital industry. The challenge

Building a digital bank from the ground up

The opportunity in Indonesia is immense, with three-quarters of the population lacking access to traditional banking. Krom’s challenge was to build a digital-first bank from the ground up, one that could launch innovative products quickly and scale rapidly to meet this demand.

They needed a modern, flexible core banking partner to bypass legacy technology and deliver a seamless digital experience tailored to young, underbanked Indonesians.

The solution

A cloud-native foundation for speed and scale

Krom selected Mambu’s composable core banking platform in March 2022.

The bank was built from scratch, leveraging Mambu’s cloud-native core alongside cutting-edge cloud technologies from Amazon Web Services (AWS). Mambu’s platform, hosted in the AWS Indonesia Region, allowed Krom to meet local data residency and compliance requirements while maintaining agility and scalability.

This powerful, cloud-native architecture enabled Krom to launch in under 12 months. The initial go-live included a full suite of personal and business products, such as current accounts, flexible savings, and high-yield time deposits.

The project was delivered by a lean, experienced team that collaborated closely with Mambu’s integration experts and AWS cloud specialists.

The results

Strong performance, bold ambitions

Since its launch, Krom has become one of Indonesia’s fastest-growing digital banks.

The bank’s financial performance in FY 2024 reflects its strong market fit and execution excellence: total assets increased by 83% to IDR 6.65 trillion, while net profit reached IDR 107.13 billion in the first nine months of 2024, up 9.54% year-on-year.

As the first fully digital bank in Indonesia built on the Mambu truly SaaS platform, Krom’s success demonstrates the strength of a cloud-first, API-enabled architecture in emerging markets.

Its agile technology stack has allowed it to grow efficiently, while maintaining compliance and operational resilience. In 2025, Krom renewed its partnership with Mambu for another five years, deepening collaboration and trust in the already successful relationship.
