About the customer
Akbank AG is the successor institution of the German branch of Akbank T.A.Ş., one of Turkey’s leading financial institutions.

Headquartered in Eschborn, the bank has held a full German banking license since 1998, providing retail and corporate services under the supervision of the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). With around 120 employees, Akbank AG is a voluntary member of the Deposit Protection Fund of the Association of German Banks.

In recent years, the bank has invested heavily in modernising its digital and core banking infrastructure to support scalable growth and long-term operational resilience.
The challenge

Moving away from rigid legacy systems

To remain competitive in the rapidly evolving German market, Akbank AG needed to move away from rigid legacy infrastructure that limited flexibility and scalability.

The bank required a modern core banking platform that could support faster product development, integrate easily with external systems, and adapt to evolving regulatory and business requirements.

Its primary objective was to adopt a cloud-native, API-first architecture that would reduce operational complexity, improve resilience, and accelerate time to market.
