Across Europe, financial institutions have been preparing for the Verification Of Payee (VOP) regulation, which takes effect today, on October 9, 2025.

This new requirement from the European Payments Council (EPC) mandates that all payment service providers (PSPs) verify a payee’s identity before processing credit transfers, representing a major shift aimed at reducing fraud and increasing trust in digital payments.
