About the customer
BCB Group is a leading provider of trusted infrastructure for global payments, connecting the digital asset economy with global finance. Founded in 2017, the company delivers regulated payment, wallet and trading services across fiat, stablecoins and cryptocurrencies for institutional businesses operating globally.

With a vision to integrate digital and traditional finance, BCB Group supports over 250 clients reaching over 50 countries, including crypto exchanges, market makers, custodians, payment providers and financial institutions. The fintech processed more than $228 billion in transaction volume during 2025.

Headquartered in London, BCB Group is regulated in the UK, France and Switzerland, continuing to expand its European footprint while enabling businesses to store, trade and move value securely, 24/7/365.
The challenge

Scaling payment infrastructure without multiplying complexity
Growth has always been central to BCB Group's strategy. As the business expanded into new markets and broadened its payment services, every additional banking relationship risked becoming a new engineering effort, requiring integrations, orchestration, processing and ongoing maintenance that would increase complexity and slow the launch of new capabilities.

Rather than creating a growing network of bespoke connections, BCB Group wanted a scalable infrastructure that could support future expansion while reducing operational complexity. The objective was to mitigate operational risk and safeguard transaction continuity while creating a faster, more repeatable way to introduce new banking partners and payment capabilities.

BCB Group therefore looked for an established SaaS partner that could provide stable infrastructure, strong APIs and reusable bank connectivity. The business needed to move faster without building every element of its payment architecture internally.
The solution

One platform for payments growth
As BCB Group's business continued to grow, so did its partnership with Mambu. What began as a payment infrastructure programme evolved into a strategic partnership supporting the company's long-term growth ambitions.

Today, Mambu Payments forms the strategic foundation of BCB Group's payment infrastructure. The deployment includes Mambu Payments Hub for payment orchestration, Mambu SEPA Gateway for European payment connectivity and Verification of Payee (VOP) for eligible SEPA payment validation, with Swift Business Connect expected to become the next stage of its cross-border payment infrastructure.
Rather than building separate integrations for every new banking partner, BCB Group can build on a common platform. Mambu's growing banking connectivity ecosystem enables the business to onboard new providers more efficiently, reduce engineering effort and focus internal teams on developing customer products instead of maintaining payment infrastructure.

Beyond the technology itself, Mambu works closely with BCB Group to support product roadmap priorities, integration delivery and future expansion. As BCB Group enters new markets and introduces new payment capabilities, Mambu provides the scalable platform on which that growth can continue.
“The key for us is simple: one interface to many banks. By leveraging Mambu to outsource part of our connectivity, we can connect new banks faster and simplify our internal systems.”

- Claire Barratt, Head of Banking at BCB Group

Scaling European payment capabilities with ClearBank
ClearBank has been a long-standing banking partner to BCB Group in the UK and plays a key role in its European payment infrastructure.

In 2026, using its existing Mambu Payments infrastructure, BCB Group established dedicated European payment capabilities through ClearBank Europe in the Netherlands, aiming to diversify its regional banking providers. They extended this relationship through ClearBank's multi-currency capabilities supporting international payment accounts across up to 11 currencies. Using ClearBank’s virtual account (vIBAN) capabilities, BCB Group’s end customers can dramatically simplify how they manage and reconcile transactions.
Rather than creating another bespoke integration, BCB Group built on the same Mambu platform already supporting its wider payment operations. Automated camt.053 account statements delivered through Mambu also simplify reconciliation across both ClearBank environments. Because Mambu and ClearBank enjoy a well-established ecosystem partnership, the two teams can collaborate directly to rapidly resolve technical nuances, without requiring BCB Group to act as an intermediary.
This repeatable approach enables BCB Group to add new payment capabilities faster while maintaining a resilient and scalable payment infrastructure.
“Having Mambu and ClearBank work directly together means we can move faster and deliver new capabilities more efficiently, without unnecessary coordination on our side. The connectivity already exists, so we're simply plugging ourselves in.”

- Claire Barratt, Head of Banking at BCB Group

The impact

A repeatable foundation for international growth
The greatest impact of BCB Group's partnership with Mambu has been speed.

By providing a payments infrastructure that can be extended rather than rebuilt, Mambu has enabled BCB Group to complete banking-partner integrations almost twice as fast. Every new banking partner and payment capability now builds on an existing foundation instead of requiring a new implementation.

Beyond faster delivery, Mambu has enabled BCB Group to build a more resilient and scalable payment infrastructure. Together, Mambu and ClearBank have protected an active revenue stream of more than £6 million annually while strengthening the resilience of the fintech’s UK and European operations. The partnership has also enabled the business to broaden its payment capabilities, support new B2C use cases, and reduce operational complexity as it grows.
Just as importantly, Mambu has given BCB Group a repeatable model for international expansion. Instead of treating every new market as a standalone integration project, the business can extend the same Payments Hub as it enters additional jurisdictions, connects new banking partners and introduces new payment capabilities.

The next phase already underway includes the adoption of Swift Business Connect, alongside opportunities to introduce smart routing for European payments and operate under BCB Group's own French BIC.

For BCB Group, Mambu has become more than a payments provider. It is the strategic partner helping the company scale its global payment operations, giving it one platform through which it can continue expanding across markets, banking partners and payment capabilities with confidence.
“We've moved roughly twice as fast on banking-partner integrations as a result of this setup, and it could get quicker still.”

- Claire Barratt, Head of Banking at BCB Group
